A Visit to the Carlos Museum by Wenli Yuan

I visited the Carlos Museum with several classmates during the fall break. The Carlos Museum is  about 15 minutes drive from our campus. This museum is fund by Emory University, and contains lots of art pieces from all over the world, with  specialty focuses on Roman Art, Egyptian Art, and Buddhism Art.

Since I am a classical languages major, I spent much time on the 1st floor, which is dedicated to the pottery, ornament, and status of that period and for the objects from near East.

The following pictures are from the collection of Greek and Roman Art.

1           Romulus and Romus fed by the wolf (Foundation of Rome)

Giant Pot used for wine mixing

4(Mythology story, Jupiter transforms as a bull to abduct Europa )

5 The Egyptian Collection of Carols Museum is considered the biggest in the US.

Overall speaking, during autumn, there are many things to do in Decatur and Great Atlanta area. Carols Museum is a great place to visit during the weekends and even for evening lectures in many fields. While High Museum is also accessible with a broader collection on art and history.
